OK, so I’ve so far managed to hide the many trips to the bathroom at work (the joys of morning sickness), but now I’m starting to show…When is it a good time to tell your employer (especially in a male dominated industry) that you are pregnant???

Despite my odd application (see last posting), I’ve got an interview tomorrow for my dream job. I guess sometimes it pays off not to follow the norm. Wish me luck!

After I don’t knoooww how long, I have spotted a super-looking job working for a publishers in Sussex. I’ve just spent the past hour filling in the application form; where have I lived/worked/schooled in the past however long and now all is left is the dreaded personal statement. ‘Why am I right for this job’ is always the hardest thing in the world. How can they expect an objective answer to this?? So instead, I’ve decided to ask all of my close friends and family to answer this, so we shall see what they say!!

Sometimes when I have loads on at work I need to take mini breaks throughout the day. Take yesterday; there’s a massive fashion event coming up I’m meant to be working on and the more hectic it was getting, the more I was itching for a spot of retail therapy. So a quick wizz on the internet and I bought these lovely sunglasses.

Perfect for all the super weather we’re getting at the moment!

I was hoping (and praying) that I would be one of those lucky ones who doesn’t get morning sickness, but no such luck. I’ve been in late to work three times this week because of it and my boss has started asking questions.

In the world of law, having a baby isn’t the best move so I’m not sure what to do – especially as so many people are currently out of work…still the weekend will soon be here, and I’m looking forward to doing absolutely nothing for the whole of it. What bliss!

Since I’ve been dating The Hunk, my bank balance has been suffering severely.

What with regular dates to go on and a wardrobe full of rags, this has meant that I have been shop, shop, shopping. I have somehow got myself into a crazy habit of buying something new for each date and it’s quite exhausting! My credit card bill came in today and I’m too scared to open in, in case I faint. EEK…

Ok, so maybe not the best timing and a bit of a shock as we hadn’t been planning on starting a family (well not yet anyhow, babies were meant to be one of those faraway things in the distant…someday), but I have to say I’m really excited about it!

God knows what will happen with work; lawyers don’t tend to work part time or even 9 to 5, but it’ll happen so we’ll just have to deal with it. And for now, I’m just going to revel in the excitement of it all!

My birthday!

Mika

Today is my birthday and I got:

  • A knitted scarf from my granny, to add to the collection.
  • Book tokens (if only I had time to read, perhaps I can recycle them and give them to someone else for a present…)
  • A DVD of The Sound Of Music – hilarious I haven’t watched that film, since I was about 11.
  • £100 cash (woo! But what to spend it on???)
  • Bath set from The Body Shop (I wonder if they still make those perfumes White Musk??!)

Good news!

Today I got a call from the recruitment agency. I thought they were calling about a new job that had come up, but apparently Richard (lovely man from my last temping job) had called them and wanted to pass on his number to me, but didn’t know how to track me down! How exciting!

I never once guessed that he liked me, as he hardly ever said a word to me – maybe he was shy! Have just sent him a text, so will see what happens next. On the downside, there doesn’t seem to be much work about, but fingers crossed something will crop up soon…

The first job I actually decide to really try and stick to, I get sacked!

Although I was bored senseless, I had resigned myself to sticking with it until things became a little less scary in this country, but the company needed to make some serious cutbacks so most of our department were sent packing. Crazy, but it was really as simple as that. God knows what the people who have families, mortgages and the rest to support will do.

Luckily summer is coming and in Brighton that means we get an influx of tourists, so there are lots of cafe/shop jobs around at the moment, so hopefully I’ll pick up something quickly. And for now, I’m going shopping.
